During my childhood my family had very little money. Most of the things I owned had been passed down through the family; every item had a story, a past life. Worn out things were given a new life; curtains became dungarees with matching headbands; pillowcases became plimsole bags, each having a new story to tell. I remember the proud feeling of owning something that had been hand-crafted just for me, I valued the time and effort put into it, the thoughtful details. I want to pass this feeling on.
My aim is to create pieces which invokes these feelings in others. Combining the ‘make do and mend’ idea with the eco-rebellion against today’s throw away society; I aim to create a range of products that people will treasure; practical yet pretty, with a story to tell.
